One of the most important initiatives in education in Scotland at present is called 'A Curriculum for Excellence'. Teachers are expected to plan courses which allow pupils to become "confident individuals, effective contributors, successful learners and responsible citizens". We believe that as far as A Curriculum for Excellence is concerned, Geography delivers! The poster above was designed by the Scottish Association of Geography Teachers (SAGT) and launched last Saturday at their conference in Dundee. I am delighted that the two pupils doing fieldwork in Perth who feature in the bottom left corner of the poster are from HSD. By today, they should be on the walls of almost every secondary school in Scotland and be popping through the letterboxes of Directors of Education and MPs across the land. You are famous, Natalie and Carissa!
