I was right to be relaxed about the weather over the last two days (read posting for 28.04 if this doesn't make sense). Hopefully F4 had no problem in identifying the anticyclone centred off the west coast of Norway. As I predicted, we had no rain due to the descending air and lack of fronts associated with high pressure areas. The weather was consequently very sunny and at this time of year with the sun fairly high in the sky, sun tan cream was in order. It was, however, very cold at night (the clear air allowed any warmth from the day to escape to the outer atmosphere). The ground quickly cooled down and water vapour in the descending air condensed to give a foggy dawn and some lovely photo opportunities.

It certainly beats being in school at 8.30!! We hardly had a breath of wind yesterday or today which is not surprising when you look at how far apart the isobars have been. What little wind there was was from the south and east coming clockwise around the centre of high pressure.
So we were blessed with anticyclonic sunshine - absolutely the best weather possible to be out in the hills 'enjoying' fresh air and good exercise (even if those back packs did weigh a ton!!)
