My thanks to virtual colleague Dan Raven-Ellison who has just drawn my attention to this excellent GIS on the Reuters news site (click to link). It is a zoomable interactive map of the world on which you can select to add information about various types of disasters - natural and human - which have been recorded on a variety of timescales. I created the map above of the eastern hemisphere with information about earthquakes, health and conflict zones. There are also direct links to the stories on their news pages and manu other functions for you to explore.
