Greenland's ice is vanishing

This map has been drawn by an Inuit who lives in Ilulissat, a small community 250km north of the Arctic Circle on Greenland's west coast. It shows how the glacier which flows into the fiord where he lives retreated 60 km in the 144 years between 1852 and 1996. What is more alarming, however, is the speed of retreat since then as shown by the recent dates superimposed on the map.
