A virtual colleague in Somerset recently recommended a website of amazing panoramic photos. The image of Machu Picchu above comes from the website but gives no indication of the quality of the photos which will greet you when you open up the originals. Click the photo to link to the website. The drop down menu at the top right of the web page offers a wide choice of 'destinations' from 2006. You might try Mt St Helens, for example. If you click on 'Full screen QTVR archive' in the side panel, you will find drop down menus of all the panoramic images from recent years.
Once you open an image, you can drag it in any direction. Dragging left and right allows you to see the complete 360 degree view from the spot where the photo was taken. Some of the panoramas even have sound effects. Give them a try - they really are awesome!
